Just bordering the sea on the southern coast of Tenerife lies the "Amarilla Golf and Country Club". This eighteen-hole course enjoys the incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean, which inspired the golf architect David Steel. Surrounded as it is by barrancos and residential developments the course provides a stern challenge for the professional golfer, while at the same time offering an attractive and enjoyable game for those of a more modest ability.
This challenging aspect was noted when the course was inaugurated in 1989, and it consequently hosted the second part of the Tenerife Open which is part of the famous European PGA Tour.
The facilities include driving range, putting green, Pro-shop, equestrian centre and Club House with tennis court, swimming pool, bar and restaurant.
This fantastic course was the brainchild of Seve Ballesteros and has been open since the autumn of 2003. Its well designed layout takes in the stunning coastline of Isla Baja and is arguably one of the most spectacular courses on this side of the Atlantic Ocean.
The course itself is 6,019 metres long consists of 6 x par 3´s,6 x par 4´s and 6 x par 5´s all of which offer the ultimate test to golfers low and high handicappers alike. Several of the greens enjoy close proximity with the stunning coastline and there is also a clubhouse with panoramic views over the whole beautiful region.
The internationally acclaimed course Golf Costa Adeje is surely one of the premier European golf destinations. Designed by Pepe Gancedo, and built on a former banana plantation with breathtaking views of Mount Teide, this demanding course consists of six par 5's, six par 4's and six par 3's. Starting inland, the course heads out to the shimmering Atlantic Ocean and views of the neighbouring island La Gomera before turning back towards the stunning mountain range.
Make no mistake, this course is a fantastic challenge and in 2002 hosted the Spanish Open. So book your tee off time now, follow in the footsteps of Sergio Garcia and Seve Ballesteros, and enjoy a week of the best golf Europe has to offer.
First opened in 1987, with a professional tournament, the Golf del Sur Golf Course (27 holes) has hosted many competitions at the highest international level. During the years 1989, 1992, 1993 and 1994 it hosted the PGA European Tour Tenerife Open.
The wide fairways are surrounded by a great variety of native flora making this 800.000 m2 plot of land a real oasis on the Atlantic Ocean. Palms Trees and Giant Cactus are all around the course, where special attention is paid to the conservation of its flora and fauna.
This nine hole, twenty seven-par course opened in 1994. Situated just five minutes from Playa de las Americas guarantees pleasant weather throughout the year. Although the course is only 914 yards long it is certainly not a pitch and putt, and there are enough challenges to engage even the most serious of golfers with five of the holes being affected by water and others requiring pin point accuracy.
Lying amidst beautiful banana trees this course provides the perfect opportunity for beginners to become familiar with the game or for those of a higher standard to enjoy a relaxing couple of hours over a round of golf. "Los Palos" prides itself on its instructional facilities, with golf teachers and club hire readily available. There is a PGA professional on site as well as a driving range, chipping area and putting green where individual classes are given.
Ideally located between Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas this 6,650-yard, 72 scratch par course is sheltered from the wind by the surrounding hills, and enjoys calm, sunny days all year round. Amongst its many features, it offers a delightful series of lakes and ravines, which create a pleasant environment in which to enjoy your game. The architecturally pleasant clubhouse itself looks out on to the practice course, the first and tenth tees, and also the greens of the ninth and eighteenth holes.
Services offered include a coffee bar, pro-shop, bag and club custody services as well as caddie cart hire and a golf school. It is advisable to make an early reservation as the course books up very quickly.
Fabulously situated in the lush north of the island, the excellent Real Club de Golf Tenerife enjoys a prime location amidst the rich vegetation and superb trees synonymous with this region of the holiday island of Tenerife. Founded in 1932, it is today the highest category golf course in Tenerife as well as being the second oldest in Spain.
This heritage is reflected in the air of exclusivity and distinction that is normally found in the traditional clubs of the United Kingdom. Only sixteen kilometres away from the capital Santa Cruz, the club lies at about six hundred metres above sea level and offers amazing panoramic views over the Teide volcano and the surrounding mountain range. The sober European architecture of the club house exudes elegance and style and the club's facilities include a restaurant and bar as well as a pro-shop and equipment hire.
Abama Golf is part of a luxury complex in the south-west of the island Tenerife, Abama Gran Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa. The course offers fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the neighboroing island of La Gomera. It was designed by golf legend Dave Thomas (San Roque Golf Club, The Belfry, to name a couple).
The golf course is winding, tactical, with 22 lakes, bunkers of marble sand and immense greens. The design of the course fits perfectly into the area’s topography and, consequently, there is a route of holes on uneven ground with the lowest point at 78 metres above sea-level and the highest, hole 5, at 315 metres. Abama is a golf course designed to be enjoyed by players of all levels.
